In-office Kiva volunteers are now eligible to receive awards issued by The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, in recognition of their commitment to public service!
The Council was established in 2003 to acknowledge the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and to encourage more people to serve. Administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Council is made up of 25 members, including leaders from the worlds of business, entertainment, sports, education, government, nonprofits, and the media. Council members are charged with the responsibility of designing and facilitating programs that foster a culture of citizenship and volunteerism in the United States.

The Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) program as a way to thank and honor those who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service. The PVSA recognizes individuals, families, and groups that have achieved a certain standard – measured by the number of hours of service over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime.
This month, the Council officially registered Kiva as a Certifying Organization (CO)! A CO is an entity that is approved to review and verify a volunteer’s hours, and nominate and distribute the PVSAs. Kiva looks forward to honoring many of its hard-working in-office volunteers by nominating them for this prestigious award!
