Kiva is happy to announce the success of its first ever promotion, the 5 for 5 Challenge. To celebrate our 5th birthday, Kiva gave existing lenders the opportunity to earn $25 in Kiva credit by inviting friends and family to make a Kiva loan. If 5 or more of those invitees made a loan, a $25 Kiva credit would be given to that lender!
We got a great response from our Kiva community for this challenge. Invites sent out from kiva.org increased by 867% from September to October! (169,727 invites went out in the month of October, as compared to 17,536 in September). Thanks to your invites, we had 1,981 new lenders and 3,709 new users to the site just in the month of October.
Thanks to a grant from The Omidyar Network, those participants who succeeded in our 5 for 5 challenge will receive their $25 credit today. Learn more about Kiva and Omidyar here.
