Kiva.org partners with MBK, Indonesia

Kiva.org is proud to announce our first partnership in Indonesia, with MBK:

"Mitra Bisnis Keluarga" (MBK) stands for "Family Business Partners". MBK is a non-bank financial company (NBFC) regulated by the Ministry of Finance and with a venture capital license issued in November 2006. Using the classic Grameen Bank methodology, MBK provides working capital to low-income households in Indonesia in order to raise their family incomes and living standards.

MBK took over the microfinance activities of Ganesha Microfinance Foundation, which operated from 2003 to 2006. During this period Ganesha reached a total of just under 30,000 clients through a network of 15 branches in two rural districts close to Jakarta (Kabupaten Tangerang and Kabupaten Bogor). MBK has been a proud partner of Unitus since December 2006.

We are pleased to be expanding our Asian partnerships, and hope to be announcing more new Field Partners within this region soon!
